Aşık Garip 16th century
• It is claimed that he is from the Tebriz region, and he
traveled to cities like Erzurum, Kars, Aleppo.
• He wrote his works in simple Turkish and used successful
verses in his works. His most important work is claimed to be Aşık Garip
Hikayesi, which narrates his own life.
• Aşık Garip's story bears great similarities with the story of
"Kampüre's Son Bamsı Beyrek" from the Dede Korkut stories.

• 1- The motif of the bloody shirt, which heralds death: In the
Bamsı Beyrek story, Yalancıoğlu Yaltacuk brings the news of Beyrek's death with
a bloody shirt, while in the Aşık Garip story, Keloğlan brings the news of
Garip's death with a bloody shirt.
2- The motif of playing saz and singing songs at weddings: Both
Bamsı Beyrek and Aşık Garip come to the wedding house on the thirty-ninth day
of their weddings, play saz, and sing songs. 3- The motif of curing the blind
eye: In the Bamsı Beyrek story, Beyrek's father's blind eyes are cured by
applying blood-soaked cloth, while in the Aşık Garip story, Garip's mother's
blind eyes are healed by applying the dust from the hoof of Hz. Khidr's horse.
