Hasan Dede
Hasan Dede 16-17th century:
• He is one of the
saints who emerged in Anatolia. He lived in Nevşehir in the seventeenth
century.
• His tomb is still a
place of visitation in Nevşehir. He is famous among the people and is also
known as Hasan Baba and Hasan Emmi.
• His legends are
widely known among the people, and some of them are narrated as follows:
Hasan Dede:
• "One day, while
one of his friends was on the verge of death, Hasan Dede was present by his
side and prayed for him. When the patient was experiencing his final moments,
he requested a pear. • It was winter, and there was a severe blizzard outside.
It was not possible to find pears during that season. The relatives who were
present by the patient's side were puzzled and said to Hasan Dede, "Help
us, what should we do? We cannot fulfill the patient's wish." • Hasan
Dede, feeling helpless and deeply saddened by the situation, said to these
people, "Do not be sad, we will find it. Allah will create an opportunity.
Just wait a little longer," and went outside.
Hasan Dede:
• After a short time,
he returned with a branch of a pear tree. The branch had lush green leaves and
ripe, bright yellow pears on it. When the people by the patient's side saw
this, they understood that it was a miracle of Hasan Dede.
• Their profound love
for him and the close attention he showed made them cry. They fed the patient
with the pears and comforted his heart. Shortly after, the patient passed
away."
• May the Almighty God
sanctify and bless his secret.
